FVVS J 22
Denna byggsats är tillfälligt slut men ritningen finns att beställa.
This is a small sized scale model with “big” performance. The FFVS J22 is not equipped with landing gear and it is easily hand thrown. Its layout makes it an interesting model with suberb handling qualities, it has nice proportions for a flying scale model.
The kit is designed using CAD-technology and most parts are CNC-milled or laser cut for a perfect fit. It is a traditional design using balsa and light plywood which makes it both easy to build and easy to repair if an accident should occur.
This model is recommended to the average builder/pilot with experience from a couple of models before. The kit takes about 35 hours to complete. The J 22 has a scale contour and can be built to a very accurate model of the full size.
FFVS (Flyg Förvaltningens Verkstad i Stockholm) J 22 was an emergency solution that become a success! During the second world war Sweden where unable to buy foreign fighter aircrafts. We where thus forced to design our own fighter using steel tubes and plywood as main construction material. The little fighter J 22 proved to have sparkling performance and had a very tight turning radius. Sometimes called: “The worlds fastest fighter aircraft compared to its engine size!” In total 200 J 22´s where produced and the type did service in the Swedish Air force between 1944 – 1952 . Today a few J 22s are preserved in museums: “Röd Kalle” at Ängelholm flygmuseum, “Röd Ludvig” at the Flygvapen museum and “Gul Erik” at Svedinos. The last one is currently under restoration to airworthiness!
